Frequently asked

Who can see my location?

Only people on your trip you choose to share with (everyone on the trip, or just some of them), plus any family you've added as observers. Nobody else. When you go incognito, your phone stops sending your location completely and others see "Sharing off". There are no exceptions (Privacy §4.1).

Does Kinetiq track me in the background?

No. Kinetiq only uses your location while the app is open and you're sharing on an active trip. When the app is closed, nothing is sent, and your group sees your last shared spot.

How do I go incognito?

Go to Me → Settings & account → Location sharing and choose incognito. It works straight away and lasts as long as you like. Nothing about where you are is sent while it's on, and our servers enforce that, not just the app (Privacy §4.1).

What does a family observer see?

A friend you add as family can follow the trip you're on, read-only, while it's underway: the group's area on the map and what's planned next. They can't see past or upcoming trips, edit anything, or read private notes. You can remove them at any time in Me → Settings & account → Family & observers.

Does Kinetiq have an SOS or panic button?

No. Kinetiq has no alarm, no distress signal and no way to contact emergency services, and nothing in the app will ever send your location against a setting you have chosen.

What it does have is your group already knowing where you are and what the plan is, for as long as you are sharing. In an emergency, call your local emergency number first (112 in the EU, 911 in the US).

Do messaging and voice notes work abroad without a SIM?

Yes. Messages and voice notes run over the internet, so any Wi-Fi or data connection works. No roaming plan or phone number needed.

What are Kinetiq points?

Points you earn when you buy eSIM data in the app. You can spend them only on Kinetiq eSIM data. They have no cash value and can't be transferred. See them in Me → Settings & account → Orders & points.

Can I get data abroad through Kinetiq?

Yes. You can buy a travel eSIM in the app for the places your trip covers, and a regional pack works across every country in it. You can also buy packs for the people travelling with you and hand them out from the app.

Your days start when the eSIM first connects, not when you buy it, so buying ahead of the trip costs you nothing. A pack is refundable until it has been activated. Your phone needs to support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked.

Can Remi's AI plans be trusted?

Treat them as a first draft. Remi plans from your dates, your group, the weather and real places, but hours change and places close, so double-check what matters, like tickets and transport times. You preview Remi's plan before anything goes in.

I deleted a stop by mistake. Is it gone?

No. Removed stops are kept, not deleted. Open the day's removed stops and restore it with one tap.

Someone copied my trip. Can they see it?

No. A copy includes only the places and days. Your companions, notes, messages and locations are never included, and their changes don't touch your trip.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Me → Settings & account → Settings → Account security → Delete account. Or from the web: see Delete your account & data.

When is Kinetiq coming to iPhone?

Kinetiq is in early access on Android today, and iPhone is on the roadmap. Leave your email and we'll tell you when it's ready.

Something broken?

Tell us what happened, on which screen, and your phone model. A screenshot helps, but crop out any eSIM activation code. We read everything: support@kinetiqtravel.com.
